This slideshow was designed to serve as a study guide on the musical elements of melody, rhythm, harmony, texture, and form. While we will review all the musical elements covered in this slideshow over the course of the semester, they may not necessarily be relevant in this first module. As such, this slideshow refers to musical elements that we will not cover for some time — this is particularly true of the musical element harmony.

That said, this slideshow is included here as a resource in case any of you are interested in exploring the elements of form and harmony more fully, but please understand that the documents provided above align more closely with the information covered on the Medieval & Renaissance Music Exam.
